An exhibition of artworks produced by the students participating in Bahá’í Education classes held in Wollongong primary schools and neighbourhoods will be on display at Wollongong City Library from 20th September to the 3rd of October. This is the third consecutive year that such an exhibition is held and this year it coincides with United Nations International Day of Peace.

Each year, the theme of the artworks is one aspect of Peace. The theme of this year’s exhibition is “living in harmony with others”. Students are asked to portray what “living in harmony with others” means to them and how they can practice peaceful living. This will help students to identify themselves as peacemakers and as active agents of change towards a more peaceful world. Currently, the Bahá’í Education classes are run in Unanderra, Figtree, Mount St Thomas, and Keiraville Primary Schools. There are also after school classes held in Corrimal and Lake Heights.

The opening of the exhibition took place on Saturday 20th September at 3 pm at Wollongong City Library. During the opening ceremony, children presented a programme of prayers, thoughts and songs for peace. This was followed by the official opening of the exhibition by Associate Professor Ian Brown, the Head of the School of Education, University of Wollongong.
